Art Masterclass is a premier, boutique art Studio, offering a mix of traditional craft workshops in Melbourne.

We are Australia’s first workshop to teach the art of traditional Turkish lamp making.

In this 2.5-hour class you will learn the techniques of this 500-year ancient craft. You will learn and practice assembling geometric patterning as well as techniques for laying the tiles (tesserae). Using your selected geometric template you will be guided to create your own traditional Turkish Mosaic Table Lamp!

All of our workshops include Apple tea service accompanied by Turkish delights.

My partner, “Craige” and myself had a fantastic afternoon designing our Turkish lamps. We met some lovely people on our shared table and everyone had lovely individual colour schemes. We got to taste delicious pistachio Turkish delight and Turkish coffee. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for something new to learn. It was a fun afternoon.

I did a class this past weekend and gosh it was fun! It was a freezing day in Melbourne but the workshop was lovely and warm, not to mention inspiring. Creating the beautiful lamp with friends was a great experience but then taking it home and enjoying it makes it even better. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone.

A great way to get crafty and make an item to take home to use. Once you get the hang of what to do it’s fun and exciting to see the end product. The template guide is useful to help design a pattern as are all the mosaic displays around the studio. The colours to use are gorgeous, though a few more colour options would have been great. The only criticism was that the instructor was not visible where she stood to all participants and was not easy to hear as she was blocked by a column. Gladly go back for another fun afternoon to create another peice.
